FAQs & care tips
Good questions, honest answers.
Here’s what dog owners most often ask us. If your question isn’t covered, just give us a call at (818) 249-7297.
How do I schedule an appointment?
Call (818) 249-7297 to discuss availability and your dog’s grooming needs. We’re open Tuesday through Saturday from 9:00 AM, by appointment only.
You can also send an appointment request online. A request doesn’t confirm an appointment — we’ll be in touch to arrange a time.
How often should my dog be groomed?
As a general guide, we suggest grooming about every 6–8 weeks to keep the coat, nails, and ears in good condition.
The right schedule really depends on your dog. Breed, coat type, length of the haircut, and lifestyle all play a part — a dog who loves to roll in the yard may need more frequent visits than one who mostly naps on the couch. Ask us and we’ll help you find a rhythm that works.
Can I request a particular haircut?
Yes — please do. You’re welcome to describe the style you’d like, and photos of looks you love can help. We’ll talk it through with you before we begin.
The condition of your dog’s coat and their comfort on the grooming table may affect which options are possible on a given day. If something isn’t practical, we’ll explain why and suggest the closest alternative.
What if my dog’s coat is matted?
Our groomer will need to see and assess the coat first. Minor tangles may be manageable with brushing as part of the groom.
Severe matting is different: working it out can be painful, and mats can hide skin irritation beneath them. In those cases, clipping the coat short is usually the kindest option for your dog’s comfort. We’ll always discuss the coat with you before deciding.
How should I care for my dog’s coat between visits?
Regular brushing with a brush suited to your dog’s coat is the single best way to prevent tangles and mats — and it cuts down on loose hair around the house, too.
Every coat is different, so ask us at your next visit for maintenance advice tailored to your dog’s breed and haircut.
Should I schedule ahead?
Yes, we recommend it. Scheduling ahead is especially helpful around major holidays and during busy seasons such as spring and early summer, when appointments can fill quickly.
Many owners find it easiest to book their next groom at the end of each visit. Call (818) 249-7297 to check availability.
What about vaccinations, cancellations, walk-ins, timing, or dog sizes?
For questions about vaccination requirements, cancellations, walk-ins, how long a groom will take, or the sizes of dogs we groom, please call us at (818) 249-7297 or email pamperedpoochez@yahoo.com. We’re happy to answer them directly.
Care tips
Keeping your dog fresh between visits.
A few simple habits make a big difference to how a coat looks and feels from one groom to the next.
- Brush regularly — daily for long or curly coats — to prevent mats and reduce shedding around the house.
- Keep your dog on a consistent grooming schedule so coats, nails, and ears never get too far behind.
- Don’t forget your dog’s teeth. Regular brushing helps keep them fresh and clean.
- Ask us for care instructions suited to your dog’s breed, coat, and haircut.
